Serving the East Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada via Cranbrook since 1997, I was one of the first web developers in the region and many of the same clients that came on board at the beginning are still part of my active client list today.
Now, a bit about me from the pen of a friend...
A longtime resident of British Columbia, Gordon Michael Clark, or "Gordrock" (a nickname given many years ago), started out as a professional musician, playing all over North America from 1980 - 1992. With recording projects and years of touring under his belt, he knew that music was a great profession but not necessarily a consistent money-maker. After all, if it weren't for bills...and food...and clothing...and insurance...and everything else, a travelling musician wouldn't really need it.
After 7 years of calling Denver, Colorardo, home and musical base, Gord moved back to Canada in January '93. Hoping for an early retirement from the music industry, a hope which lasted barely a month, he jumped back in with both feet for the Key City Theatre's 1st Anniversary Show and didn't seek another break for nearly 5 years. You can check out Gord's MySpace page at myspace.com/gordrock
Although his appearances in the area's club scene are now few and far between, Gord has been seen occasionally plunking the piano keys and crooning songs from Elton John and Billy Joel as well as sitting in the recording studio behind the console helping others to realize their dreams in music.
As things seem to always work out, as if in a master plan, music led Gord to computers and computers led him to graphics and the Internet.
In the Fall of 1997 following a brief stint as recording engineer at his home town's first recording studio, Gord traded one keyboard for another and moved into the world of web design.
"Who'd have thought the consequences of a dare would be so enjoyable!"
"One day, a friend showed me his website that he'd built in Corel Wordperfect. I thought to myself, 'Wow! I can do better than that!'. The he said, 'Oh ya? I'd like to see you do better!' Little did I know what that one critism would spawn. Who'd have thought the consequences of a dare would be so enjoyable!"
During the next few years he created many popular websites including EK Crime Stoppers, TheDriveNews.ca and the controversial AidsChannel.com which gained international attention following a spot on NBC's Today show in August 2000 and numerous articles in the National Post. From 2001 to the end of 2005, he designed many more sites under the alias "My Ion Design" which included KootenayICE.net, SamSteeleDays.org, KootenayEntertainment.com, Cyberlink.ca, TheDriveFM.ca and B104.ca, to name a few. Beginning in 2005, now working on his own, Gord continued to pump out original designs which have been enjoyed by clients and their customers.
Although he tends to work independently, Gord is occasionally hired by various companies to build websites on their behalf. Currently working with a few local businesses, the quality of his work has not changed nor has his determination to make sure the client's needs are always met.
Gord currently resides in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, and lives a short drive away from his last surviving parent, his best friend and father. He looks forward to the challenges ahead, having miraculously survived some amazing adversities that few survive; adversities that would require pages and pages to describe in detail. We`ll just leave it at that.
